Misty Mathews, Strategic Operations Program Manager / Chief of Staff

Misty Mathews has more than 15 years of communications and strategic leadership experience both in private industry and in higher education, including expertise in communications and organizational strategy. She previously served as Communications Liaison for the Global Water Security Center.

She is a national award-winning communicator, with a second-place and honorable mention from the National Federation of Press Women for ghostwriting, as well as an honorable mention for flyer design. She also is a former winner of a national Bronze feature writing award from the American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE) and a Silver regional section award from ASBPE for her work with Randall-Reilly Publishing Company.

She serves as a visiting professional with The University of Alabama’s Multicultural Journalism Workshop and a session leader and student contest judge with both the Alabama Scholastic Press Association and the Southern Interscholastic Press Association. She also volunteers as a judge for the annual media awards of the National Federation of Press Women’s Alabama Chapter. She is a member of the Public Relations Society of America. She received her bachelor of arts from The University of Alabama with a double major in communication studies and journalism
