GWSC communications liaison wins national, state awards

Global Water Security Center Communications Liaison Misty Mathews earlier this year received two awards from the National Federation of Press Women (NFPW) after being named the winner of two statewide awards from the Alabama Media Professionals, a state affiliate of NFPW.

After placing first in each category, Mathews received honorable mention and 2nd place in the “Best Brochure or Flyer – Corporate or For-Profit” and “Ghost-Written Article” categories.

“It always feels good to have work recognized, and I’m really honored to have won these awards from a national professional development organization,” Mathews said.

In addition to the two awards, Mathews was installed to a two-year term as president of AMP, which also includes a position on the NFPW national board and on the board of the AMP Education Fund, the organization’s nonprofit partner.

Mathews previously won first place for Ghost-Written Article in 2022 in the AMP contest and went on to receive an honorable mention in the NFPW contest. Her time as AMP president follows a year of service as the organization’s Vice President of Membership.
