Misty Mathews, Communications Liaison
Misty Mathews has more than 15 years of communications experience both in private industry and in higher education, including expertise in communications strategy and social media management. Most recently, she was strategic communications manager for national consulting firm Keecha Harris and Associates, where, as the organization’s first communications leader, she garnered numerous national media placements and increased social media followers by 2000% in two years.
She is a former winner of a national Bronze feature writing award from the American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE) and a Silver regional section award from ASBPE for her work with Randall-Reilly Publishing Company.
She serves as a visiting professional with The University of Alabama’s Multicultural Journalism Workshop and a session leader and student contest judge with both the Alabama Scholastic Press Association and the Southern Interscholastic Press Association. She also volunteers as a judge for the annual media awards of the National Federation of Press Women’s Alabama Chapter. She is a member of the Public Relations Society of America. She received her bachelor of arts from The University of Alabama with a double major in communication studies and journalism
